The “Todos Santos Michael” art gallery, in the state of Baja California Sur, presents, for the first time, a sample of the South Californian artist Aníbal Angulo, who has marked the nature with a handling of the red color and the space that not only attracts Looks, but is able to create environment-

The look fits into a series of oil paintings; Is a series of 35 paintings of different dimensions, where the red color predominates inserted in the white wall. There, the viewer discovers that the paintings are a kind of window with depth from where the light emanates from small spaces painted in shades of blue, yellow, pink, green, black and red.

This is the exhibition New Work by Aníbal Angulo, exhibition that is exhibited from February 26 to March 12, 2017. The painter, in an exclusive interview, told us that his work is the production of the last six months “with a theme Or with a resource he had never used, which is based on a predominant color, red, which he had never painted in red; This element, he said, supposed to solve the problem of how the red paintings were left and, finally, these are 35 paintings in which 80 percent is the red color.

Why is it a problem?

Because each color represents a visual problem or gives you a certain sense, so if you try a color for a long time, you get to dominate all its possibilities and nuances and if you change color, is another problem.

Finally they are problems that you encounter with any color, but when you are working with a range all the time, you get to dominate it and it is less distressing to solve the space in the fabric. When you change it, it’s like starting over-

When you were working on “From the sierra descends the light into shadows”, what was going through your mind? It is not about saying anything, if I wanted to say something I would do literature, I would make a story; they are colors, sensations, textures that each viewer is going to interpret by his way, there is no speech, there is no intention to say anything. Painting is not writing, it is not literature, so if you want to say something, write what you want to say, I do not want to say anything, I just want to apply color in a certain order. Simply, your concern is that the space in the fabric is filled with texture, color, shapes and that these forms in the end are a harmony that causes you some pleasure and maybe someone gives a totally personal interpretation.   Aníbal Angulo Cosío is  originally  from  La Paz, Baja California Sur. He was born in 1943. In addition to being a painter, he is a photographer, engraver, sculptor, poet, jewelry designer, Damiana liquor producer and a passionate gastronomic expert. The art gallery “Todos Santos Michael” is located at the entrance of this magical village of South California.
